Job Description: PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools) is an international education not-for-profit organization with the mission to expand access to sustainably delivered, quality secondary education across Africa. Since 2008, PEAS has built and operated high-quality, low-cost, not-for-profit secondary schools in partnership with the government in communities with high unmet demand for secondary education. PEAS currently operates 30 secondary schools in Uganda and 6 in Zambia, serving over 16,000 students.
Position Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven HR Associate to join our People and Culture (P&C) department. The HR Associate will assist with administrative and HR-related tasks, including updating employee absence records, filing HR documents, initiating background checks on shortlisted candidates, and providing recommendations to improve HR policies. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented with excellent administrative and organizational skills.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Employee Database Management: Update PEAS employee databases by inputting new employee contact information and employment details; share monthly P&C updates with staff.
- File Maintenance: Ensure employee files are up to date with the latest information.
- Candidate Screening: Screen resumes and application forms to identify suitable candidates for job vacancies.
- Interview Coordination: Organize interviews with shortlisted candidates.
- Job Posting: Post job advertisements on job boards and social media platforms.
- Project Tracking: Track progress, priorities, and deadlines of various projects.
- Communication: Prepare and send offer and rejection letters or emails to candidates.
- Orientation: Coordinate new hire orientations.
- Staff Inquiries: Respond to staff inquiries regarding P&C policies, employee benefits, and other HR-related matters.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or currently studying toward a degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
- Experience: Proven experience working in an office environment.
- Knowledge: Working knowledge of Uganda Labour Laws.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent administrative and organizational skills, effective communication skills, and detail-oriented.
- Teamwork: Ability to work as part of a team.
