Job Purpose:
The Country Finance Officer supports the finance function of SNV in Uganda, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This role involves managing country and project finances according to SNV’s policies and donor guidelines, ensuring stability and transparency.
Job Description:
Financial Advice and Information:
- Provides financial data, analyses, and advice to internal and external parties for decision-making.
- Balances country interests, regulations, corporate standards, and donor guidelines.
- Answers questions regarding financial administration based on corporate procedures.
- Contributes to global finance procedures and strategy in the country.
Financial Accounting and Administration:
- Ensures complete and correct allocation of costs and time.
- Aligns internal and external reporting with financial regulations, SNV standards, and donor requirements.
- Assists in managing intercompany projects.
Financial Planning and Control:
- Supports budget holders in complying with internal and external procedures and guidelines.
- Executes financial activities within the country, including budgeting, forecasting, control, monitoring, and auditing.
Reporting:
- Provides financial reports and analysis to internal and external parties to safeguard financial performance and assess risks.
- Ensures accurate and timely donor reporting in line with guidelines.
Business Development:
- Assists in budget development for proposals, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and policies.
- Supports the registration of financial data in information systems.
- Assists in capacity building of new implementation partners in sub-grants management.
People Management (if applicable):
- Guides, develops, coaches, and motivates finance employees to achieve departmental objectives.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting.
- 3-5 years of proven experience in finance management.
- Strong knowledge of finance and understanding of core finance and business processes.
- Self-motivated with excellent teamwork, communication, networking, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel.
