About WCS:
The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), with funding support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is implementing the USAID/Uganda Combating Wildlife Crime (CWC) Activity. This initiative is in partnership with the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) and Royal United Services Institute (RUSI). The goal of this activity is to reduce wildlife crime in Uganda. WCS is seeking a Uganda-based research consultant to support the development of the 2024 Uganda Wildlife Trafficking Assessment Report. The aim of the report is to assess the illegal wildlife supply chain in Uganda and the country’s role as a transit point for international wildlife trafficking.
Job Overview/Summary:
WCS is looking for a research consultant based in Uganda to contribute to the development of the 2024 Uganda Wildlife Trafficking Assessment Report. The consultant will conduct research on the illegal wildlife supply chain and analyze Uganda’s role as a transit point for international wildlife trafficking. This report will provide valuable insights to aid in the reduction of wildlife crime in Uganda.
Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive research on the illegal wildlife supply chain in Uganda.
- Analyze data to determine Uganda’s role as a transit point for international wildlife trafficking.
- Compile and organize findings into the 2024 Uganda Wildlife Trafficking Assessment Report.
- Collaborate with WCS and partner organizations (AWF and RUSI) to ensure the report meets the project’s objectives.
- Provide recommendations based on the research findings to aid in the reduction of wildlife crime in Uganda.
Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience in research, particularly in wildlife conservation or related fields.
- Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
- Excellent report writing and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A university degree in Wildlife Conservation, Environmental Science, Research Methodology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in conducting research and producing comprehensive reports.
- Previous work in wildlife conservation or related areas is highly desirable.
Work Hours: Varies according to project needs
Experience in Months: Dependent on project requirements
Level of Education: Bachelor Degree or higher
