Job Details:
Background and Purpose: WFP’s Country Strategic Plan 2018-2022 includes six strategic outcomes aligned with national policy objectives such as Uganda’s Vision 2040 and the Third National Development Plan (NDP III). The plan addresses root causes of food insecurity and malnutrition, supports refugee response, and strengthens social protection systems. Assistance is provided through direct implementation, evidence generation, knowledge sharing, and capacity strengthening, while building strategic partnerships, including South-South and Triangular Co-operation.
The Research, Assessment, and Monitoring (RAM) unit supports WFP’s Country Office by conducting large-scale surveys, monitoring activities, rapid assessments, and mapping services to provide updated food security information, including economic and price data, which inform programmatic and policy decisions as well as advocacy efforts.
RAM activities aim to enhance national and local-level capacities in managing disasters and climate change risks through process automation, innovations, and data analysis. WFP Uganda ensures high-quality data from the Community Feedback Mechanism (CFM) and community engagement are reflected in operations.
RAM’s core activities inform the design and support of WFP’s operations. Before any Disaster Risk Management and Response intervention, WFP, in coordination with government and partners, conducts food security analysis to answer critical questions regarding food insecurity and vulnerabilities, providing essential insights for effective targeting and intervention strategies, such as food distribution, school feeding, and cash-based transfer programs.
Since 2023, WFP Uganda CO has been part of the Gender Equality certification programme, focusing on strengthening analysis and accountability to affected populations. The Country Office prioritized actions in response to evaluation and audit recommendations, including refining the prioritization model for General Food Assistance, launching the self-reliance model, expanding Cash-Based Transfers, enhancing retailer monitoring, strengthening social protection systems, implementing climate-sensitive approaches, and harmonizing feedback channels with UNHCR and key stakeholders.
