Job Details:
Uganda Christian University (UCU) is seeking highly motivated and dynamic professionals for the position of Intern (Sports & Gym Instructor). This internship is a paid opportunity within the Directorate of Students Affairs at the Main Campus.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of a diploma or equivalent in any related field of study.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Education (Physical Education) is an added advantage.
- Passionate about sports with the potential to understand different sports disciplines.
- Minimum training in sports medicine, injury management, and rehabilitation.
- Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Commitment to meeting assigned deadlines.
- Effective communication skills.
- Enthusiastic with a desire to work hard and have fun.
- Available to attend and volunteer at evening and weekend competitions.
- Mature and practicing Christian.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop a detailed schedule for the University Teams League engagements.
- Assist with planning and execution of sports competitions, including attending local competitions (option to attend away competitions).
- Review League Team registration for accuracy and help in online profiling.
- Assist with monitoring sports training, attending practices to evaluate training quality, providing support to coaches where needed, ensuring teams have the necessary equipment, etc.
- Receive and prepare game news reports for submission.
- Assist with day-to-day activities within the operations of the department.
- Maintain and coordinate the sports media bank (photos, videos, publicity materials, and newspapers).
- Coordinate with student interns who work with UCU teams.
- Provide support in facility maintenance, usage, and overall management.
- Coordinate and support the sports First Aid section to provide hands-on assistance as required by the department.
