Job Details:
MTN Uganda Limited is seeking a competent individual to fill the position of Head of Technology – FibreCo. This role involves implementing and managing the technology roadmap for Opco FibreCo, ensuring efficient and effective network rollout, operating a cost-effective and future-proof network and infrastructure, and delivering excellent quality of service, coverage, and capacity.
Main Purpose:
The Head of Technology is expected to provide sound technical leadership in all aspects of the business, overseeing overall IT Network & Infrastructure development utilization plans and managing all information technology resources for the Opco FibreCo.
Key Performance Areas:
Key Deliverables:
- Strategy Development and Implementation: Align functional strategy with business goals, provide direction, and ensure alignment with the changing ecosystem.
- Staff Leadership and Management: Manage talent, develop team culture, provide open communication, set KPIs, and implement training plans.
- Governance: Participate in strategic meetings, provide inputs for transformation initiatives, and manage escalations.
- Function Tactical: Review and finalize objectives, manage risks and dependencies, and monitor functional performance.
- Budgets: Manage budgets in line with business objectives and ensure cost-effective operations.
- Operational Delivery:
- Functional Leadership: Monitor and align Technology & Network vertical strategy, lead solution development, and ensure compliance with Group guidelines.
- Delivery Leadership: Manage technology infrastructure, network, and service delivery; oversee team and service providers; ensure quality service and connectivity; manage network resilience and redundancy plans; and handle customer complaints.
Education:
- Minimum: B.Tech/B.Eng./B.Sc. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Preferred: Master’s degree in technology/engineering
Experience:
- Minimum: 5 to 8 years relevant experience in a similar position with at least 3 years in a managerial role
- Professional/Technical: 10 to 12 years in wholesale/infrastructure/B2B Telecommunications sector with knowledge in Planning & Designing of FTTX Networks
