Job Description:
BRAC Uganda Bank Ltd launched on April 25, 2019, as a Tier Credit institution, evolving from the leading Microfinance services provider in Uganda. Operating 32 branches and 130 satellite offices across 84 districts, the bank targets Micro, Small, and Medium Entrepreneurs, promoting financial inclusion for unserved and underserved populations, particularly women, youth, and people in rural areas.
Purpose of the Role: The Head of Human Resources will oversee the development and implementation of BRAC Uganda Bank’s strategic HR plan. The role involves driving the people agenda, including benefits programs, employee relations, compensation structures, HR compliance, organizational development, performance management, recruitment, retention, staffing, and health & safety reviews in alignment with labor laws.
Main Job Responsibilities:
- Define goals and objectives for acquiring, retaining, and developing human capital.
- Foster a workplace environment consistent with the Bank’s Vision, Mission, and Values.
- Drive a culture of high performance across the Bank.
- Serve as an internal consultant on personnel issues affecting performance and business relationships.
- Develop and manage the HR department’s budget, ensuring efficient fund management.
- Motivate and evaluate HR staff, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
- Develop and coordinate policies and procedures for effective HR management.
- Maintain current and compliant employee records and HRIS system data.
- Conduct HR audits and risk assessments, addressing identified risks timely.
- Promote employee engagement through cultural change and motivation schemes.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Social Sciences, Organizational Psychology, or related fields. A Master’s degree in Human Resource Management is preferred.
- Membership in the Human Resource Managers Association.
- At least 10 years of HR management experience in a financial institution, with 5 years at a senior management level.
- Experience in leading cultural transformation is an added advantage.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in HR and Payroll systems.
- Exceptional people management skills.
- Ability to work in a multicultural setting with strong networking and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and planning skills.
- Understanding of Local Labor Laws and banking policies and procedures.
- Ability to operate under tight deadlines and pressure.
