Job Details:
Job Summary: The Financial Controller will provide financial information, analysis, and insights to support management decision-making. This role involves overseeing general accounting procedures and practices to ensure accurate data maintenance in the ERP system.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting and Analysis: Collect, track, and analyze financial data to provide monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports, aiding management in strategic decision-making.
- Management Reporting: Create reports and dashboards to communicate financial information to various management levels, summarizing complex financial data for non-finance audiences.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Oversee the development and implementation of the NHOP master budget, monitor actual financial performance against budgeted figures, and provide commentary and recommendations for improvement.
- Cost Management: Calculate and analyze product costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and develop cost allocation methods.
- Pricing: Analyze costs and market conditions to guide pricing discussions.
- Performance Measurement: Develop and implement systems to track key metrics and evaluate initiatives’ success, providing insights and recommending corrective actions.
- Decision Support: Offer financial analysis and modeling for strategic decisions, conduct sensitivity analysis and scenario planning.
- Risk Management: Assess and manage financial risks, develop risk mitigation strategies, and provide recommendations.
- Managing Staff: Lead Production Analysts and Cost Analysts, empowering them to manage finances and deliver excellent customer service.
Other Tasks:
- Fixed asset management and IFRS 16 accounting.
- Production accounting.
- Liaise with inventory manager for safe custody of stock.
- Manage the chart of accounts.
- Support the external audit process.
- Train and develop subordinates.
Education, Skills, and Experience:
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, or related fields; professional qualification (CPA or ACCA) required.
- Five years’ experience in a professional audit firm or manufacturing organization.
- High level of analytical and performance management skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in ERP environments, reporting tools, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Good understanding of IFRS and taxation in Uganda.
- Strategic thinking and business acumen.
- Strong reporting and communication skills.
- Leadership and teamwork abilities.
- Change management skills.
