Job Details:
Position: Communications & Engagement Assistant
Job Purpose:
The position holder will support the communications and engagement team to increase the visibility of the CCHF study and provide communications support for the development of the CCHF study narrative reports.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the CCHF project management team to implement the knowledge exchange strategy of the study.
- Develop and review communication products such as study brochures, policy briefs, videos, and newsletters, and ensure they are shared on appropriate platforms with support from the CCHF PI and the communications team.
- Organize study engagements to strengthen partnerships and knowledge exchange, document major events, and update key platforms with reports in relevant formats.
- Coordinate media engagements on behalf of the CCHF study and build useful relationships with the media to boost the study’s visibility and positioning.
- Attend team meetings, develop reports, and contribute to the management of the project’s risk register by identifying potential risks.
- Develop and regularly update the study page on the LSHTM website, as well as the CCHF partnership website and social media to increase the visibility of the study and its knowledge outputs.
- Provide communications support for the final report, including layout and design.
Person Specification:
- Degree in Mass Communication or other relevant discipline from a reputable University.
- Minimum of 2 years in a communications and engagement role.
- Experience in media engagement and event planning.
- Knowledge of report writing.
- Experience in writing best practice stories.
- Experience in website management and social media.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong presentation and report-writing abilities.
- Proficiency in writing for the web and using web content management systems (CMS) such as Drupal and WordPress.
- Skills in photography and/or videography.
- Proficiency with desktop graphics software such as Adobe Creative Suite.
- Excellent command of English and widely spoken local languages.
- Proficiency in relevant software and applications (including but not limited to MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to translate technical language and complex research into communications suitable for a variety of audiences.
- Interest in neglected tropical diseases and/or public health.
- Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize, plan work, and respond flexibly to unexpected changes or multiple demands.
- Proactive and outcome-driven.
- High degree of professionalism.
