Job Summary:
The Accountant at Asaak will be responsible for the financial and accounting transactions of the company. They will manage financial accounts and file taxes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly financial reports and provide insights and commentary.
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, and prepare various accounting records and GL supporting schedules.
- Prepare bank payments, conduct reconciliations, and lead communication with the bank.
- Record and manage prepayments and accruals ledgers, ensuring accurate timing of expenses.
- Participate in stock-taking of assets and assist the operations team with recording and tracking company inventory.
- Maintain regular updates of the Assets register and related depreciation schedules.
- Handle petty cash-related issues for both the Head Office and branches, and receive accountabilities of funds.
- Support the development of effective charts of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
- Monitor the implementation of internal controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
- Assist in audit preparation and manage the audit process.
- File all company taxes and other statutory requirements, including PAYE, NSSF, LST, and income tax.
- Review and provide technical updates to the Accounting Policies & Procedures Manual in line with Asaak’s policies and procedures.
- Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, management accounts, financial statements, and other financial reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Qualifications and Specifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance), BBA (Accounting or Finance), Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting & Finance, Microfinance, or any related field majoring in accounting with at least level 2 of ACCA/CPA.
- At least 3-5 years of working experience in Accounting and Financial analysis.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Trustworthy and willing to take responsibility.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills (English).
- Experience and proficiency in accounting software, preferably QuickBooks.
- High levels of personal and professional integrity.
