About the Client:
Our client is an integrated financial service provider in East Africa, offering a range of financial solutions including General Insurance, Life Insurance, Asset Management, Investment, and Banking.
Job Purpose:
To process claims efficiently and professionally to meet customer expectations and departmental objectives.
Key Outputs and Deliverables:
- Communicate with clients to acknowledge claim processing and provide regular updates.
- Obtain necessary documents and process claims according to service standards.
- Process claims promptly following stipulated guidelines and procedures.
- Record, register, and post new claims, ensuring quality customer service.
- Set initial reserves for new claims and recommend reserve adjustments.
- Close files upon payment or recovery.
- Evaluate preliminary claim information and request additional details from brokers or insured parties as needed.
- Verify claim details and documents against policy specifications for accuracy.
- Update customers on claim status and communicate with intermediaries/insured/claimants.
- Collaborate with the underwriting department to address risk improvement issues and review policy wording.
- Assist in determining settlement amounts and issue discharge vouchers for fully documented claims under the direction of the claims manager/supervisor.
- Regularly update the claims register to track claim progress.
- Address customer complaints and inquiries promptly.
Education, Skills, and Experience:
- A university degree in Business Administration, BCOM, or an equivalent qualification with ACII/COP.
- Prior experience as a claims officer in general insurance is mandatory.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
