Job Details:
Reporting to: Head of Collections & Recoveries
Job Purpose: The Collections Support Officers will assist the Collections and Recoveries Unit to ensure efficient operations and promote excellence within the unit.
Location: Kampala
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and resolve customer queries related to balances, clearances, and releases.
- Prepare and follow up on payments for service providers (e.g., Newspaper Agencies, Security companies, Valuers, EDCs).
- Track and update unit registers, SLAs, and Professional indemnity for stakeholders.
- Maintain a central Insurance tracker and update the status of accounts under Collections and Recoveries, providing monthly reports.
- Reconcile Collections and Recoveries accounts, including Corporate Expenses and GL accounts.
- Maintain a monthly checklist for restructured accounts, ensuring compliance and upgrading accounts as per FIA guidelines.
- Monitor irregularly overdrawn accounts and coordinate with branches for action.
- Track breaches and waivers related to loan defaults and maintain a decision-making tracker.
- Follow up with Lending Operations on failed write-offs (loans over 455 days).
- Review and recommend checks and controls for security clearances and maintain a tracker for properties on sale and foreclosed properties.
- Maintain the Repossessions Control register and verify the condition of repossessed assets.
- Ensure insurance cover for repossessed assets and recommend maintenance or refurbishment.
- Foster sound relationships with security and conduct monthly checks on repossessed assets.
- Coordinate timely valuations, notifications, advertising, auctioning, or disposal of collateral according to policies and procedures.
- Perform any other assigned duties.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in any field.
- One year of experience in credit-related work.
- High level of customer service and good telephone techniques.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in Word and Excel (PowerPoint is an advantage).
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of bank products, policies, controls, and procedures.
- General understanding of business, financial, and accounting fields.
Work Hours: 8 hours per day
Experience Required: 12 months
Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree
