Job Description:
On behalf of a major Oil & Gas operator, Worldwide Recruitment Solutions (WRS) is looking for a Senior Medical Officer to work in Uganda on a contract, rotational basis. This will be a 12-month renewable contract, rotating 8/2 into the country, paying a day rate in USD. The role will support the ongoing construction of a cross-country pipeline.
Job Requirements:
- Accountability:
Manage the medical aspects of the Project in Uganda, providing oversight of the medical setup by the Project and Contractors. Oversee the implementation of Project requirements for medical facilities and medical evacuation setup. - Coordination:
Coordinate a team of staff members working on various aspects of patient care, including doctors, nurses, technicians, and other support personnel, in cooperation with HSE, construction, and HR departments. - Recruitment and Training:
Contribute to recruiting and training a competent crew to operate facilities safely and efficiently. - Integration:
Integrate national and local content during field operation preparation and future operations. - Advisory Role:
Assist the MSM over the medical division operations. Advise MSM and HSE regarding site needs and medical specifications for MEDEVAC. - Protocol Management:
Check and correct Contractors’ protocols for medical care, including infection control procedures and sterilization techniques. - Medical Team Coordination:
Guide, accompany, and coordinate the Project Contractors’ medical teams to set up their medical facilities on Project sites according to client Standards.
Candidate Requirements:
- Education:
Master’s in Medicine (BSc. Medicine), emergency or intensive care medicine, tropical diseases. - Experience:
Minimum 10 years of professional experience in emergency medical care/response. Expertise in managing intra- or extra-hospital vital failures. Experience in an isolated and operational environment. - Skills and Knowledge:
Knowledge of tropical pathology and a good understanding of Africa. Ability to effectively lead a team and work in a multi-cultural business setting. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
