Mission/Core Purpose of the Job:
The Senior Manager – BankTech is responsible for driving the development of the financial management strategy and successful delivery of BankTech solutions such as savings, loans, investment, and insurance products through new, innovative, and customer-friendly solutions. The role also entails managing existing products in the portfolio to grow customer uptake, volumes, value, and revenue.
Responsibilities:
Main Job Functions:
- Develop and implement strategies for BankTech solutions aligned with MTN’s overarching business goals under the oversight of the Chief Product Officer.
- Provide direction, structure, frameworks, models, plans, and roadmaps for the sub-functional strategy.
- Review the sub-functional strategy and roadmap to ensure alignment with internal and external ecosystem dynamics.
Staff Leadership and Management:
- Source, induct, and manage talent following legislative guidelines.
- Foster a culture of strong collaboration and effective team working.
- Ensure open communication channels with staff and implement change management interventions as necessary.
- Define roles, responsibilities, goals, and performance objectives for the team.
- Promote a Fintech-centric and partnership approach to develop strong relationships with other working groups and adhere to Group governance.
Governance:
- Contribute to OpCo-wide transformation initiatives and manage escalations impacting critical service delivery paths.
- Review key risks, issues, and dependencies, setting mitigation actions as required.
- Monitor performance and alignment with the overall OpCo strategy.
- Manage budgets and project initiatives in line with business objectives to reduce operational costs.
Operational Delivery:
- Monitor and align the vertical’s direction, strategy, and results with Group guidelines.
- Build an OpCo-customized product roadmap for the BankTech segment.
- Develop and implement Go to Market strategies for BankTech products in collaboration with the Commercial Operations team.
- Leverage analytics, mobile data, and mobile advertising to develop solutions.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or any related field.
- Relevant post-graduate qualifications and certifications are advantageous.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in product development or a related field.
- Experience in Fintech, Payments, Advanced Services, or Mobile Money is preferred.
- Experience working in a global/multinational enterprise with knowledge of emerging markets is preferred.
- At least 5 years in telecommunications, product development/agile project management, customer services, or marketing.
- At least 3 years in a senior managerial position leading a team.
Knowledge & Training:
- Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the Fintech industry and innovative product development.
- Proficiency in relevant technologies and understanding of product design and development methodologies.
- Adaptability to changing market conditions and customer needs.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate a fast-paced team and work across diverse cultures and geographies.
- Flexibility and ability to handle stress with good planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent strategic planning, business analytical skills, and pricing.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to use initiative, multi-task, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work proactively with minimal supervision and manage a diverse workload and deadlines.
- Experience managing IT delivery teams.
