Job Description:

About The Position: IsraAID is seeking a dedicated and skilled Nutrition Manager to implement activities in Palorinya and Nakivale Refugee Settlements. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and monitoring nutrition activities to ensure that refugees and host communities live healthy lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Implementation, Monitoring, and Delivery:
    • Provide technical and operational support throughout all stages of IsraAID Uganda’s nutrition-related programming, ensuring effective collaboration with other partners and stakeholders.
    • Plan and conduct promotional activities for exclusive breastfeeding in host communities and refugee settlements, mobilizing community participation.
    • Lead and supervise the promotion of dietary practices affecting malnutrition, training healthcare workers, and supporting policy development.
    • Develop and oversee nutrition materials, including IEC materials and training manuals, in consultation with IsraAID HQ Health Department.
    • Supervise malnutrition screening at all levels, ensuring compliance with local regulations and quality standards.
    • Establish mother-to-mother groups through local authority engagement, training group leaders, and providing ongoing support.
    • Monitor, report, and certify the use of program resources, ensuring compliance with organizational rules, regulations, and donor commitments.
    • Prepare quality and timely nutrition progress reports for management, donors, and partners.
  2. Networking and Partnership Building:
    • Build and strengthen strategic partnerships with government counterparts, UN agencies, donor agencies, health institutions, NGOs, research institutes, and the private sector.
    • Produce nutrition IEC materials to promote awareness at the community level and support fundraising efforts.
    • Participate in inter-agency discussions at national and settlement levels, ensuring IsraAID’s interests and priorities are considered and integrated.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Competencies:

  • Requirements:
    • Must be a Ugandan national.
    • Fluency in English.
    • Degree in Food Nutrition or a related field (Master’s/Postgraduate degree is an advantage).
    • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in community-led nutrition programs, with previous experience in refugee settlements being advantageous.
  • Specific Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of maternal infant and young child nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding, MUAC, M2M, and hygiene promotion.
    • Ability to adapt to changing situations and find innovative solutions.
    • Proficiency in cross-cultural communication and engagement.
  • Competencies:
    • Attention to detail and high standards of performance.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Commitment to safety protocols and guidelines.
    • Teamwork and collaboration skills.
