Invitation To Bid tendering at United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)
PURCHASE, SUPPLY, AND INSTALLATION OF 2 COMBINED COFFEE HULLERS AND 12 GREENHOUSE TENT SOLAR COFFEE BEAN DRIERS (2 LOTS)
Background
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with the Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) and the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) are implementing the project concept titled “Unlocking the Potential of Coffee in Uganda through Promoting an Inclusive and Sustainable Coffee Supply Chain Process.” The goal of this intervention is to unlock and harness the potential of coffee in Uganda by fostering an inclusive and eco-friendly coffee supply chain. This effort is aligned with the objectives outlined in Uganda’s Coffee Roadmap and specifically targets the enhancement of the climate-smart coffee supply chain through the following interventions:
• Building capacity for the active participation of youth and women in the climate-smart coffee supply chain.
• Supporting the tracking of coffee value chain custody to ensure compliance with EU deforestation-free value chain and certification systems.
Recognizing the significant opportunity that the cultivation of Arabica and Robusta coffee presents, particularly in empowering communities within the Greater Masaka and Rwenzori regions of Uganda, a critical need for coffee hullers and greenhouse tent solar coffee bean driers in these regions has been identified as essential By investing and supplying this post-harvest equipment, UNDP through UCDA will significantly enhance the processing capacity, improve quality control mechanisms, save working time, and improve the quality of coffee beans and market
competitiveness, thus resulting in increased incomes and income generation opportunities for coffee farmers, especially women-dominated groups.
It is against this background that UNDP is seeking to engage a qualified company to supply and install 2 combined coffee hullers and 12 greenhouse tent solar coffee bean driers in Masaka and Kasese Districts.
This call is allocated in two (2) lots as follows:
