Serving over 36,000 clients in 17 districts of the Mid-Western and Central regions of Uganda, ENCOT Microfinance Limited (ENCOT) is a social impact, fast-growing, and innovative MFI operating a network of 10 branches including Hoima, Masindi, Kigumba, Kagadi, Nakasongola, Kawempe, Luweero, Bweyale, Katikara, and Karuguuza. ENCOT’s mission is to provide microfinance services to low-income smallholder farmer communities, especially women, enabling them to create their own paths out of poverty through job creation. ENCOT is seeking dynamic, self-motivated, and result-oriented professionals to fill the following position urgently:

Position: Internal Audit Assistant – Head Office

Purpose:
Assist the Internal Auditor in conducting audits to ensure compliance with company systems, policies, and procedures. Make recommendations for improvement and support the management and development of the audit department.

Key Result Areas:

• Assist in establishing audit objectives, scope, and methodology, and develop audit programs.
• Execute internal audits per the approved annual audit plan professionally and in line with current auditing standards.
• Conduct risk analyses to determine the nature, timing, and extent of audit procedures.
• Review and evaluate overall accounting and operational internal controls for both computerized and non-computerized processes.
• Investigate and report compliance breaches, identifying and documenting agreed-upon remedial actions.
• Create working papers to document audit work performed and collect, analyze, and document information supporting audit results.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance & Accounting, Administration, Audit, or any related field.
• Professional certification in accounting and/or auditing such as CIA, ACCA, or CPA is an added advantage.
• At least one year of working experience in Finance/Accounting and/or Audit/Risk Management.

Core Capabilities:

• Exposure to best practice financial management in a financial institution or an audit firm.
• Proficiency in MS Office suite and a good understanding of IT’s role in modern management.
• Knowledge of current accounting and auditing standards, procedures, and requirements.
• Strong analytical skills.
