Job Details:

Impact and Innovations Development Centre (IIDC) is a not-for-profit regional Technical Assistance (TA) and Learning partner organization that collaborates with development agencies in the public and private sectors to enhance impactful and innovative programming. IIDC builds capacities and facilitates learning to improve the effectiveness of development programming in Africa, aiming for sustainable and equitable development outcomes for all.

Overall Purpose of Job:

The Interim Finance Officer will ensure the accurate and timely execution of day-to-day financial operations in accordance with IIDC financial policies, procedures, and operational requirements. This role also supports the Finance and Administration Manager during their absence.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

Budgeting:

  • Ensure expense categories are properly coded according to approved operational/project budgets and the chart of accounts.
  • Develop and process activity implementation/execution budgets in consultation with relevant technical officers.

Managing and Documenting Payments:

  • Initiate and process payment requests through various approval processes.
  • Execute approved payments/disbursements to staff, service providers, program participants, and partners.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are properly documented and posted in the accounting system in a timely manner.
  • Ensure proper filing and safe custody of financial documents and information.
  • Support the Finance & Administration Manager and Head of Programs in reviewing accountabilities.
  • Manage the petty cash float and conduct petty cash counts.

Statutory Compliance:

  • Prepare statutory returns to the URA, NSSF, and Local Government in a timely manner.

Financial Reporting:

  • Conduct month-end closure procedures, including bank reconciliation, ledger reconciliations, project transactions, and analysis of BVA’s.
  • Support the Finance & Administration Manager in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual management and donor financial reports.

Audit Preparation and Support:

  • Prepare for and support the annual audit processes.

Job Requirements:

  • Fully qualified professional Accountant (CPA or ACCA).
  • At least 8 years of experience in a related role with a credible organization, preferably an NGO.
  • Available on a full-time basis for the duration of the assignment.
  • Proficient in using QuickBooks without supervision.
