Job Details:

Job Purpose: Support the Bank’s Finance function in accordance with established professional standards, policies, and procedures. Provide strategic and operational guidance on all financial matters of the bank.

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Oversee the financial management of the bank, ensuring adherence to Shariah principles. Responsible for budgeting, financial planning, and forecasting to ensure the financial health and stability of the bank.
  • Shariah Compliance: Ensure that all financial activities and products offered by the bank comply with Shariah principles.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks while ensuring compliance with Islamic principles.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present financial reports to stakeholders, including shareholders, regulatory authorities, management, and the Shariah Advisory Board. Ensure reports accurately reflect the bank’s financial performance and position while adhering to Shariah guidelines.
  • Product Development: Collaborate with other departments to design new Islamic financial products and services that meet customer needs and comply with Shariah principles.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including capital adequacy ratios, liquidity requirements, and reporting standards.
  • Strategic Planning: Contribute to the bank’s strategic planning process by providing financial insights and analysis to support senior management and board decision-making.
  • Treasury Operations: Manage liquidity and optimize the bank’s balance sheet. Oversee treasury operations, including cash management, liquidity management, and capital allocation, ensuring efficient resource use while maintaining Sharia compliance.
  • People Management: Supervise the Finance team to ensure achievement of set targets. Deliver effective people management processes, including performance management, talent management, training, staff career development, and succession planning.

Financial Responsibility:

  • Responsible for the Bank’s Budget Development.

Person Specification:

Education, Training, Skills & Experience:

  • Education & Training:
    • Minimum of a first degree in Islamic Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Business Management or Administration, or any other relevant field.
    • Full qualification in professional accounting courses (CPA).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; knowledge of accounting packages is desired.
    • A Master’s degree in Islamic Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Business Management, or Administration is an added advantage.
    • Postgraduate training in Leadership and/or Business Management.
    • Industry-specific training (e.g., Islamic Finance, risk management, compliance).
    • Membership of a professional banking body (at Associate or Fellowship level) is an added advantage.
  • Skills & Experience:
    • At least 10 years of work experience, with five years in senior finance roles in a busy commercial setting, preferably in a financial services institution or insurance industry.
    • A versatile individual with significant experience in various facets of management (operations, business growth, strategic planning).
    • Demonstrable record of effectively leading large teams and performance management.
    • Strong track record in financial management and business growth.
