Position: Financial Planning & Analytics Manager
Reports to: Chief Finance Officer

Job Summary: Cairo Bank Uganda Limited seeks a Financial Planning & Analytics Manager to lead the bank’s financial planning efforts. This role focuses on budgeting, performance analytics, revenue assurance, and competitor and market analysis. The manager will support the implementation of strategies through insightful management information systems (MIS) reporting, enabling executive management to make informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare consolidated financial performance reports, segmented by income, cost, impairment, and balance sheet, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Analyze and report costs by function and cost center, incorporating direct costs and allocating indirect costs according to a predetermined methodology, with commentary on performance against the budget.
- Prepare financial performance forecasts with relevant commentary, and circulate them to executive management to drive performance discussions.
- Drive strategy implementation and long-term business plans, supporting the CFO in delivering strategic objectives.
- Prepare short- and medium-term budgets by function and cost center, and revise annual forecasts.
- Provide clear explanations of financial and operational information to support business understanding of historical performance and future trends.
- Perform business cash flow projections, predict future trends, and report on factors influencing business performance.
- Prepare Monthly Performance Review packs (MPRs) for business performance assessments.
- Prepare quarterly Board reports focusing on costs, income, and capital expenditure, comparing them with the approved budget and capital plan.
- Circulate daily balance sheet reports by segment to senior management, tracking major movements in customer assets and liabilities, and key ratios.
- Engage with business heads to identify issues related to business performance and financial targets, providing commentary and improvement initiatives.
- Prepare competitor analysis reports and recommend business improvement opportunities to executive management.
- Drive and prepare inputs for ALCO discussions, ensuring ALCO performance targets are met.
- Ensure management information processes are prepared and disseminated according to agreed service level agreements.
- Prepare branch profitability and optimization reports to drive discussions on branch viability.
- Support the procurement manager to ensure all vendor engagements and expenditures are within the approved budget.
- Play a key role in product development and launches, ensuring all parameters are considered during product setups.
- Drive funds transfer pricing discussions between business segments with the support of the Treasury Head.
Education:
- University degree in Statistics, Actuarial Science, Accounting, or Quantitative Economics.
- Proficiency in Advanced Excel and Data Analytics.
- Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CA, CPA, or equivalent are an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of five years of post-qualification experience, preferably in a financial institution, with at least two years in a managerial role.
Skills and Competencies:
- Advanced Excel and SQL querying experience.
- Knowledge of database applications.
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and prudential regulations.
- Strategy implementation and monitoring.
- Broad understanding of banking practices.
- Stakeholder and performance management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and strong analytical capability.
- High level of computer literacy.
