Job Description:
Grassroots Alliance for Rural Development (GARD) is seeking a proficient Finance & Administration Assistant to support our operations and contribute to our mission of fostering resilient and empowered communities in Uganda. This role involves providing comprehensive assistance in financial management, administration, procurement, and compliance with organizational and donor requirements.
About GARD:
GARD is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering and strengthening rural communities in Uganda. With our headquarters in Kotido Municipality and field offices in Amudat and Napak districts, we work across various sectors including sustainable livelihoods, youth empowerment, governance, and institutional development.
Project Background:
GARD is currently engaged in the implementation of the UNDP/KOICA Building Resilience in Conflict-affected and Fragile Communities of Karamoja (BRICK) project. This initiative aims to promote peace, security, and resilience among vulnerable households in Karamoja region.
Job Summary:
The Finance & Administration Assistant will work closely with the Head of Finance and Administration to ensure efficient financial operations and office administration. Responsibilities include financial tracking, procurement support, logistical coordination, and maintaining compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
Major Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide support in financial management including cash reconciliation, budget monitoring, and payment processing.
- Manage office administration tasks such as front desk operations, inventory management, and human resource support.
- Assist in procurement activities, including purchasing, vendor management, and logistics coordination.
- Maintain accurate documentation and filing systems for administrative and financial records.
- Support in project implementation, including organizing field activities and providing logistical support to staff.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
- Minimum three years of experience in finance, accounting, and administration in an NGO setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with accounting software.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team and prioritize tasks effectively.
