About This Role: The driver will be responsible for driving ChildFund International vehicles according to the organization’s transport policy and procedures, enhancing staff mobility for greater effectiveness and efficiency.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Stay alert to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Child Safeguarding Policy.
- Check the vehicle for mechanical faults before driving.
- Drive ChildFund vehicles safely, considering weather and road conditions.
- Transport ChildFund Country Office field staff to project areas.
- Maintain punctuality and courtesy.
- Report faults and accidents immediately.
- Ensure seatbelts are fastened before driving.
- Drive vehicles to approved destinations only.
- Keep vehicle keys secure to avoid duplication and theft.
- Ensure the vehicle has a valid license, insurance stickers, and is serviced timely.
- Repair minor mechanical faults and report major faults.
- Keep the vehicle clean to uphold ChildFund’s image.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report to the supervisor.
- Supervise vehicle cleaning and repairs.
- Obey traffic laws and ChildFund policies.
- Observe speed limits at all times.
- Ensure the logbook is filled and kept in the car.
- Assist with loading and offloading goods or luggage.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Experience and Education:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar role within a child-focused development organization.
- Certificate in defensive driving, customer care, and Public Relations is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of simple mechanical repair is necessary.
- Demonstrable teamwork attitude.
- Effective communication in English.
- Minimum of “O” Level (U.C.E) Certificate of Education with a clean valid driving license for classes A, B, and C.
