Job Details:
Swift Minds is hiring on behalf of our client in the banking sector. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for planning, studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor. This role involves analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs. The Cost Accountant will also assist in the month-end close of the General Ledger, prepare financial forecasts, conduct risk assessments, and maintain the Cost Accounting System.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan, study, and collect data to determine costs of business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor.
- Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided to determine effects on cost.
- Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
- Record cost information for use in controlling expenditures.
- Make cost estimates of new and proposed products.
- Provide management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting cost and profitability of products or services.
- Assist in the month-end close of the General Ledger.
- Compile documentation on standard costs and company production costs.
- Review prices of products to keep them in line with expected margins considering changes in costs and market forces.
- Carry out costing for Special Order Products to determine a price to charge.
- Prepare periodic Costing and Production Reports to analyze production performance and its effect on product costs and company expenditure.
- Carry out cost center analysis and reporting to manage company costs against budget.
- Establish and maintain a robust Activity Based Costing system to guide financial reporting and variance analysis.
- Recommend and participate in the execution of process improvement projects.
- Educate the operational and production teams on management of costs and associated cost drivers.
- Compile and present financial forecasts to assist planning and decision making.
- Prepare financial analysis for new ventures.
- Analyze company project performance and ROI.
- Conduct risk assessments and advise on ways to minimize financial risks.
- Maintain the Cost Accounting System.
- Construct data accumulation systems.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in BBA, B.COM, or an Accounting-related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar position.
- Excellent computer skills and good understanding of SAP BI.
