Job Details:
The Programmer / Web Developer will be responsible for designing, coding, and modifying websites, from layout to function and according to a client’s specifications. The goal is to create visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and program web applications using languages such as WordPress, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, and APIs.
- Strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions, and standards.
- Regularly attend meetings with business stakeholders and executive management to present/promote designed prototypes/ideas.
- Create visually appealing sites that feature user-friendly design and clear navigation.
- Maintain database/web security and data integrity through the use of access codes and an efficient password system.
- Identify potential site users and design a website to appeal to these constituents.
- Write and edit content as well as design webpage layouts.
- Perform regular data backups and validate the integrity of data backups.
- Perform database automation and script writing.
- Conduct systems analysis, periodic testing, and upgrades to ensure programs run efficiently and meet new technology trends.
- Ensure availability of accurate documentation of guidelines and procedures for effectively managing and maintaining the websites/databases.
- Work closely with account managers to fully understand client expectations.
- Prepare and compile agreed periodic activity and performance reports for the attention of the manager in charge.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or any other related discipline.
- Webmaster skills and an understanding of open-source database systems.
- Expert-level knowledge in the use and implementation of open-source Content Management Systems (CMS), specifically WordPress and its plugins. Ability to build applets in styling scripting languages such as JavaScript and modify existing plugins to meet specific task objectives.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong multi-tasking skills, including managing one’s schedule and meeting client deadlines.
- High degree of confidentiality and ability to handle sensitive information.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Possession of any other related certifications is an added advantage.
