Job Summary: The Pharmacy Assistant will manage stock activities in the health facility store, including stock requests, receipt, storage, and issuance of medical supplies, food items, equipment, and other materials. The role also involves dispensing medication to patients.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Track movements of goods in and out of the store, ensuring deliveries match dispatch notices for quality and quantity.
- Perform physical stock counts and reconcile with paper files and ERP system/Rx solution.
- Collaborate with the In-Charge to prepare stock requests, submit to Store Officer, and follow up on deliveries.
- Issue stock to user departments according to MTI procedures.
- Ensure goods are stored safely, securely, and are easily identifiable.
- Maintain the required temperature for medicines and monitor store and fridge temperature.
- Maintain an efficient filing system for store-related documentation and enter information into ERP system as needed.
- Prepare reports on consumption, short-dated stock, physical stock status, expired stocks, etc.
- Organize manual loading and unloading of vehicles when necessary.
- Maintain inventory register for non-consumable items and perform stock rotation according to FEFO and FIFO.
- Ensure store health and safety procedures are followed and maintain the security and cleanliness of the store.
- Dispense medications to patients and monitor prescriptions for accuracy and adherence to clinical guidelines.
- Conduct training for clinical staff on the rational use of medicines.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Certificate in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical and Health Supplies Management, or a related field.
- Registration with the Allied Health Professionals Council.
- Valid practicing license.
- One year of experience in a community or hospital pharmacy.
- Experience working with INGOs is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of store management and ERP systems/Rx solution.
- Skilled in medicine dispensing and using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Highly organized with quantitative ability and attention to detail.
- Proficient in both written and spoken English.
- Ability to act with integrity, maintain security of store goods, and adhere to professional confidentiality.
- Physically fit to lift heavy boxes.
- Ability to support MTI’s mission and adhere to the MTI Code of Conduct.
