Job Description:
Position Summary: Shell Nakiyanja is seeking an Operations and Sales Manager to oversee the daily operations, enhance customer service, and drive business growth at our gas station. The role demands operational expertise, customer service skills, and business acumen.
Responsibilities:
- Overseeing Daily Operations: Manage staff, ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and maintain customer satisfaction.
- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, order fuel and merchandise, and manage budgets.
- Sales and Profitability: Implement strategies to increase sales and profitability, set fuel prices according to market conditions, and potentially earn commissions based on sales.
- Customer Service: Handle customer inquiries and complaints, ensure positive customer experiences, and maintain the station’s cleanliness and appearance.
- Staff Management: Supervise and train staff, set employee schedules, and manage the hiring, training, and firing of employees.
Skills:
- Leadership: Motivate and guide teams to achieve sales targets and operational efficiency.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with customers, staff, and suppliers.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent service to ensure customer satisfaction and repeat business.
- Inventory Management: Track stock levels, order supplies, and manage budgets.
- Financial Acumen: Handle cash, manage bank deposits, and prepare financial reports.
- Salesmanship: Understand customer needs and drive merchandise sales through effective promotions and upselling.
- Problem-Solving: Address and resolve issues swiftly to maintain smooth operations.
- Flexibility: Adapt to changing circumstances, such as shift changes or unexpected events.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety, security, and environmental regulations.
- Technical Skills: Operate and troubleshoot equipment like fuel pumps and POS systems.
Qualifications:
- Strong background in operations management, preferably in the oil and gas industry (fuel station).
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced retail environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work in shifts.
