Job Description:
Uganda Christian University (UCU) is offering a paid internship opportunity for a Nurse Intern at the Allan Galpin Health Center on the Main Campus. This role is designed for recent nursing graduates or those awaiting graduation, providing practical experience in a supportive healthcare environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Uganda Christian University or awaiting graduation.
- Partial Transcript from the University.
- O’ level & A’ level certificates.
- Proficiency in ICT and competency in MS Office and PowerPoint.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong responsiveness and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Mature and practicing Christian.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess and plan nursing care for in-patients.
- Take vital observations, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, height, weight, and BMI daily.
- Alert doctors about any unique concerns or complaints regarding patients.
- Perform nursing procedures such as wound dressing, ear syringing, cannulation, bed making, damp dusting, sterilization, and drug administration.
- Respond to emergencies alongside the ambulance driver.
- Write reports and document patient care.
- Ensure the safety and proper maintenance of clinic equipment.
- Participate in health promotion activities and Continuous Medical Education.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Nurse or Director Medical Services.
