Job Details:
Description of Purpose:
The Forklift Operator is responsible for the efficient and safe transportation of stock supplies/items using a forklift, ensuring smooth flow of stores operations.
Key Result Areas:
- Load and off-load supplies within established rules and regulations, ensuring no items are damaged.
- Accurately transfer items from the warehouse to the factory to prevent stock mix-ups.
- Perform routine forklift maintenance to ensure smooth operations.
- Track and report all stock item movements on the factory floor to the Senior Accountant-Stores.
- Assist with parceling newspaper returns into 20 kg bundles for sale.
- Load delivered supplies/items into the main store and place them in their respective locations.
- Coordinate with the transport and commercial printing offices for any stock transfers using the forklift.
- Adhere to safety rules and guidelines while operating the forklift.
Education and Professional Qualifications:
- A Uganda Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level Certificate).
- A valid driving permit with at least three classes: G, B, CM, and DL.
Working Experience:
- At least 2 years of driving experience.
Communications and Working Relations:
- Internal: Work with the Printing department to ensure timely materials to the factory for production.
Scope of Impact:
- Careful operation of the forklift to prevent damage to costly materials.
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
Technical Competencies:
- Forklift driving skills.
- High regard for safety standards and equipment in the workplace.
- Good knowledge of driving rules and regulations.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanisms.
